STANSW Physics Teachers Symposium

Project Background:

The one day physics conference is designed for teachers of or prospective teachers of physics and/or junior science. STANSW has had a number of requests for subject specific professional learning events. These have included subject specific knowledge and how to integrate the content. There also have been concerns in recent years amongst teachers on how to increase the number of band 6 students. Even though the courses descriptors are not of equal rigor across courses, this is commonly used as the performance indicator in schools.
STANSW continues to support the teaching of Physics from years 7 to 12, with a range of workshops for beginner to experienced teachers. With the new year 12 Physics syllabus being implemented this year, there are lots of opportunities to collaborate, learn and network with colleagues from across the state to discuss best practice for teaching the new course. Experienced HSC teachers and university academics will pass on techniques, stories and pedagogical advice on how to improve the teaching of Physics.

Completing the STANSW Physics Teachers Conference will contribute to 5 hours of NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Registered PD addressing 6.2.2, 7.4.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
STANSW Inc is endorsed to provide the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Registered Professional Development for teachers accredited at Proficient Teacher level.
