Becoming a member of your state Science Teachers Association opens the door to a collegiate, passionate and knowledgeable community of science teachers. And access to hours of discounted accredited professional learning hours.

Science Teacher Association members are committed to ongoing learning and professional development, and frequently learn from one another through peer to peer sharing. As a member you receive discounted rates on professional learning events, regular news updates on all things science teaching related, our quarterly journal and the opportunity of joining as many special interest committees as you choose.

Membership

Council

Council provide strategic guidance to the Science Teachers Association and oversight of the governance and financial management of the Association. The Council is accountable to the Members for the Company's business and operations.

The key responsibilities of the Council are:

  • Leadership and strategic direction
  • Governance
  • Financial and risk management.

Individual members are eligible for election as a Councillor, elections take place in Term 4 of the school year. Each year up to 4 council positions are vacated and open for nominations. If you interested in standing for Council please email [email protected]

Volunteering

Volunteering is a good way to meet new people and become part of a community of committed educators. It's also a great way to improve your skills and career prospects, and of course you'll be playing a vital role in helping us promote excellence in science education.

Organising Committees

Each major event has a committee of volunteers who organise professional learning opportunities for delegates, managing areas such as programing, promotion, site plans and on the day activities. These dedicated individuals make it possible to deliver high quality, accredited professional learning.
