Description
Content, contexts, and capabilities. Join with colleagues to explore ideas and approaches for creating meaningful and effective science lessons. Hear from a range of experienced teachers and other experts about proven strategies and resources to help your students prepare for life in the 21st century.  We know intuitively that science develops general capabilities, but with little time to spare in our busy weeks, how can we get maximum engagement and skill development out of science lessons? Hear about how other teachers intentionally integrate the development and assessment of general capabilities into science and technology contexts. A range of workshop presenters will explore innovative evidence-based approaches; cutting edge educational technologies; and practical resources that are ready to implement by both specialist and classroom teachers.

Year 7-10 science is crucial for shaping scientifically literate 21st century citizens, especially those who will not go on to study senior science. Join a range of experienced teachers and other experts to look at how rich assessments, hands on learning, and creative uses of technology can transform your junior classes. The use of relevant, contemporary contexts for learning not only allows the embedding of general capabilities but can also increase student engagement.
