STANSW is excited to announce our HSC Exam Preparation Student Lectures for 2026. These online sessions will run during the school holidays and are designed to provide students with valuable insights before they sit their exams.

Delivered by experts in each subject area, the lectures will:

• Explore the structure and requirements of the HSC exam
• Review key module content and areas of focus
• Provide proven strategies for exam technique and time management
• Include practice questions and worked examples

At just $55 (plus booking fee) per student, these sessions offer an affordable, high-impact way for your students to sharpen their approach and boost their confidence.

We are also committed to ensuring access for all students. STANSW member schools classified as low SES (by ICSEA profile) may apply for free registration for their students. Applications for free registration close Monday 24 August. Complimentary Registration will be considered for up to 10 schools from low SES backgrounds (with a maximum of 5 students per school). Schools / Teachers applying must have a current STANSW membership.  Apply here.

Maninder Kaur is a Science Curriculum Adviser at Department of Education where she supports school leaders and teachers with curriculum implementation across Science for Years 7–12. An experienced science teacher and former Head Teacher in a secondary school, she has extensive experience in HSC marking and developing high-quality, evidence-based professional learning. She also leads curriculum consultation with the Department’s chemical safety, risk management, and emergency response teams supporting schools to implement safe work practices in science.

2026 HSC Exam Preparation Lecture – EES: Modules 5 & 6

Presented by Rhys Briscoe-Hough – Cranbrook School, Sydney
Rhys Briscoe-Hough has taught Science in the public system, private system and overseas. He has designed and implemented the Stage 6 programs for EES, Science Extension and Chemistry in a variety of schools and settings (HSC & IB) as well as creating stage 4 & 5 gifted and talented school-wide programs. He has written for the CSSA chemistry trial paper, marked the EES HSC exam and has over 11 years teaching experience.

Catriona Chaikin has over 30 years’ experience teaching Chemistry and Physics, with deep expertise in curriculum delivery, assessment, and senior science education. She currently teaches at Hornsby Girls Selective School and brings valuable insight into exam standards and expectations. As a member of the STANSW Council, and an active member of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute, Catriona is dedicated to supporting teachers, sharing best practice, and fostering collaboration in science education.

Gabriel is an experienced Earth and Environmental Science (EES) teacher at Fort Street High School. He has been an HSC marker since 2018 and a senior marker since 2024. As part of the team that developed the new EES syllabus in 2024, he brings deep curriculum knowledge and expertise in science education.

2026 HSC Exam Preparation Lecture – Chemistry: Module 8: Applying Chemical Ideas

Presented by Andrew Eaton – Science Coordinator and Senior Chemistry Teacher Wollondilly Anglican College
Andrew has over 20 years experience as a Chemistry teacher and is currently the Science Coordinator at Wollondilly Anglican College, Tahmoor. He coordinates the Year 7 & 8 paper for the International Chemistry Quiz and has been involved with writing the Catholic Trial Exam. He has been marking since 2004 and has been a Pilot Marker, Judge and Senior Marker
