NSW Schools Showcase Inspiring Science at Parliament House Ahead of National Science Week.
New South Wales schools will engage with policymakers at Science in the House, a special exhibition at Parliament House this August, highlighting the outstanding work of science teachers and students from across the state.
Hosted by Greg Warren MP, Parliamentary Secretary, on behalf of The Hon. Prue Car MP, Deputy Premier and Minister for Education and Early Learning, the event will be held on Wednesday 5 August at Parliament House.
Taking place the week before National Science Week (15–23 August 2026), Science in the House connects Members of the NSW Parliament and their staff with NSW students and teachers, offering an opportunity to experience innovative classroom science firsthand and recognise the vital role science education plays in preparing Australia’s future workforce.
Vice President of the Science Teachers Association of NSW says the event aligns with the 2026 National Science Week theme, “Seeds of Science: Nurturing Knowledge for All”, celebrating the power of curiosity, inquiry and scientific discovery in every classroom.
“Science in the House aims to recognise the outstanding work of science teachers, showcasing exemplary science projects from schools across metropolitan and regional NSW.
It demonstrates the importance of sustained investment in science education to develop the skilled workforce needed for Australia’s future.”
Members of Parliament and parliamentary staff are invited to visit the exhibition between 11.00am and 2.00pm, with formal proceedings and speeches taking place from 1.30pm to 2.00pm.
Schools exhibiting include Clarence Town Public School, Chester Hill High School, Hastings Secondary College (Port Macquarie), Kambala, Yanginanook, William Clarke College, Trinity Grammar Junior School, Lindisfarne Anglican Grammar School, Xavier Catholic College and Lisarow High School.
Science in the House is organised by the Science Teachers’ Association of NSW (STANSW) and sponsored by Powerhouse, as part of their ongoing commitment to excellence in science education and support of teachers across the NSW.
