STANSW is forming a collaborative special interest group that will explore and shape our commitment to reconciliation and integrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Perspectives into science teaching.
This is an opportunity to:
- Help us develop a collaborative community to support science teachers to integrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into their teaching and STEM activities
- Create space for meaningful conversations around knowledge sharing and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in science
- Develop authentic connections and deepen cultural understanding
- Provide guidance in the development of STANSW’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commitment Statement
- Develop resources and build a community to call on for advice on authentically integrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander focus into the new science syllabuses, and advice on implementation.
- Address the education gap in science for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Students
We’re keeping the scope flexible to allow the group’s collective voice to emerge. Whether you’re of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent or have experience integrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into STEM teaching, your perspective is valued.
